Located in the heart of the Canadian prairies, the province of Saskatchewan has a longstanding reputation as a global leader in agricultural biotechnology. The region is home to world-class infrastructure and resources as well as a highly integrated research community.  Much of the biotech research community is clustered around the Innovation Place research park and the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.  The cluster is anchored by prominent research institutions such as the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, the NRC – Plant Biotechnology Institute, the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Organization and many more.
